Dartmouth to Represent the Ivies at the June 2-3, 2012 CRC

Las Vegas Invitational, February 9th through February 12th

The Brown Rugby 7s team will travel to Las Vegas next week to play in the Las Vegas Invitational, February 9th through February 12th. After pool play, there will be playoffs based on each team’s results. All of the matches are at Sam Boyd Stadium in East Las Vegas.

Cornell Women’s Rugby to play in Ivy Rugby Conference Fall 2012

This fall, 2012, the Cornell Women’s Rugby team will play its first season as part of the new Ivy Rugby Conference along with the seven other traditional Ivy League schools.

Yale and Brown to represent the Ivy Rugby Conference for the Second Year

Pools were announced today for the Las Vegas 7s in two weeks.  Yale gets a tough draw with Indiana, Weber State and last year’s champions Central Washington. Yale has been training for the last 3 weeks working in Payne and Whitney Gym and renting indoor field space in North Branford.

On January 22, 2012, the New England Referee Society (NERRS) awarded Dartmouth Women's Rugby the Hayes Award. Dartmouth was selected from a list of approximately 250 New England area teams.

Yale Men's Rugby had one of their tougher seasons in the Ivy Rugby Conference finishing 2-5 and losing a couple of close calls. The team, however, is talented, organized and primed for a quick rebound in 2012. The talented play is obvious in this well presented video.

Sophomores Dot Mittow and Morgan Arthur both scored and made the difference as Princeton defeated arch-rival Virginia to place third in the first-ever USA Rugby National 7s Championships.

Five U19 All-star players representing three Ivy League schools including Harvard, Cornell and Brown have been selected to represent the Northeast Rugby Union Under-19 (NRU U19) squad. This year represents the last year that the Ivy schools will be competing in the Northeast. In 2012, the Ivy Rugby Conference anticipates that all 8 women's Ivy League School rugby teams will compete in conference play.

The Northeast championship match pitted 2 of the top women's rugby programs in the country against one another. In a match characterized by big hits and tenacious runs Brown beat Army, the reigning national champions 36-17. Both sides go to the National playoffs in the spring.

Dartmouth defeated Harvard in the final match of the Ivy 7s Championships 41-14. The event was being hosted by The Boston Irish Wolfhounds and Harvard Rugby at the Irish Culture Center.

NE Plate: Dartmouth Women 38 - Brockport 24

The Dartmouth Women took on Brockport, the third seed from New York State, in the first round of the Womens Northeast Plate yesterday and soundly defeated the Bulldogs 38-24. The Northeast Final Four Weekend is being hosted by Dartmouth Women at Corey Ford Clubhouse.

The Ivy Rugby Conference is not affiliated with the Council of Ivy Group Presidents ("The Ivy League"), which organizes
intercollegiate athletic competitions at the varsity level. The name "Ivy Rugby" is used with The Ivy League's permission.
