Columbia suffers tough preseason loss to UConn in Mansfield, CT 24-7. After an organized start and some tough defensive stands in the first 60 minutes, UConn pulled away in the last quarter to out pace the Lions.

Columbia started strong showing resolve on defense keeping the score knotted at 0-0 in the early going before a dropped ball gave UConn a break and an early 7-0 lead on a converted try. After the Lions survived a scare in their own end, they held on down just 7-nil at the break.

Again, a Columbia mistake leads to a UConn converted try as UConn steals a Lion ruck. 0-14 UConn. Columbia's Nick Knudsen rambles for the try. Calello conversion bring Columbia within striking distance 14-7 about halfway through the second half.

Tough times in the last 20 minutes lead to a Connecticut penalty (7-17) and then yet another converted try to make the final UConn 24 - Columbia 7.

The Columbia seconds lost a tough on 24-nil to the the UConn Bs.
