Oct 22 2016 - 1:00pm

PROVIDENCE RI -- It was a muddy day for rugby at Marvel field on the campus of Brown University as @brownrugby defeated @cornellrugby by a score of 27-15.

Brown scored the first fifteen points of the contest as the Brunos scored 2 trys and a penalty. Scumhalf Joey Paolino slid in for the first Brown try. Pete McHugh then notched a difficult kick to make it 7. Paolino then stole a pass and dished to Nkanyiso Nzimande who zoomed past Big Red defenders and into the try zone. Brown took a 15 to nothing lead as Pete McHugh bangs the ball through the uprights after a Cornell penalty.

Cornell drove down the field and found the edge of the try zone scoring in the corner. Cornell's missed conversion from the corner kept the score at 15-5 Brown.

The score remained 15-5 into halftime. The first 40 minutes were played primarily in the midfield in sloppy, muddy conditions.

Cornell Travels to Brown

Coming off a tough loss against a very good team from Harvard, the Big Red is preparing hard this week to take on Brown in their third straight away game. Every week, the team is getting better by improving on different aspects of their game. Cornell feels they are peaking at a good time in the season with the unfortunate record of 1-3.

The roster from last week’s loss against Harvard is mostly unchanged. Additions to the team include Ryan Heavirland back from a brief time off and new to the starting lineup is 6’6” lock, Chris Johanson. The two will join senior standout and captain, Ethan Venosa at hooker to make an impact on the offensive side of the ball. Expect more dynamic action from John Schuler and Spencer Nagel in the forwards and Otto Godwin, Eddie Hogan and Ryo Inkyo in the backs.
