If you are anywhere near Stanford University today, stop by and cheer on the Women's National Final Four contender Brown University lead by head coach Kerri Heffernan as they look to take down last year's national champion Penn State University. The 2008 Men's Ivy League Rugby Championship tournament will be hosted by Columbia University this weekend. Dartmouth and Harvard are back strong this spring after playing in last year's final. Yale brought the cup to this year's match after winning in New Haven last year. The Rob Koranda Cup is awarded to the winner of the annual Princeton vs. Yale rugby match dating back to the spring of 2002. It has been one year since I have assumed the position of president of CURFC and what a year it has been. Last year’s team, a team full of potential, size, athletic ability, and desire, accomplished many things (including the first Met NY win in over 2 years, a winning regular season record, and two Ivy wins over Cornell) but in the end, failed to reach all of the goals that we had set out for ourselves. This Saturday marked the opening game of the fall season for the Yale team, who traveled north to Dartmouth to take on a squad that had beaten them 91-0 on their beautiful pitch less than a year ago.
