Columbia Tackles Rugby 7s This Spring

After a solid fall campaign that resulted in the team being invited back to the Ivy League playoffs, the men of Columbia Rugby are turning their focus to the newest Olympic sport; Rugby 7s. 

The team will make its debut in the 2016 Ariel Re Bermuda Sevens tournament, March 18-20. After the trip, the Columbia faithful will be able to see their favorite team in local tournaments like the Empire Conference Sevens Tournaments (April 2 and April 9) as well as the Kutztown Sevens (April 23), all leading up to the Ivy Sevens title to be decided April 30 at Dartmouth College, Hanover NH. 

Columbia Rugby is proud of its very own Cam Appel, who was invited to participate in the New York Sevens Tournament as a member of Olympic Developmental Northeast Academy’s winning team. He and the other team leaders are now taking charge of getting the boys back in the gym training hard to compete for their place on the field.

Columbia Rugby is as excited about the upcoming season as it is about its to sponsorship with Macat. " Macat International was founded in 2011. Focusing on HASS—the humanities, arts, and social sciences—it develops learning materials aimed at university students, advanced school students, faculty, teachers/professors, and lifelong learners.
