Harvard Ruggers Tumble at Ivy Tourney
The Harvard rugby team missed several scoring opportunities yesterday in the championship game of the Ivy League Tournament, losing to Brown for the second straight year, 13-4, in front of 200 fans in Providence, R.I.

However, that was all the Crimson could muster and with about two minutes left, the Bruins scored their third penalty of the game to hold off the rally. "It's disappointing because we matched up against them," Kingston said, "We kept the ball on their side of the field most of the contest." "We were looking forward to playing them because of last year," Co-captain Ray LaRaja said.
Earlier in the tourney, the Crimson beat Penn in the first round, 16-4, and slipped past Cornell in the semi-finals, 9-3. Kingston said he was happy about beating Cornell because "they played a dirty game which included biting and punching. But we had seen that style of play at Williams and we stuck to our game plan." The Crimson pulled out the contest after Rob Fox stole the ball and set up Andy Foose for a try--and the win--with less than five minutes remaining.
The Penn game proved easier, as four different players scored and the Crimson only allowed a breakaway with time running out. Harvard sees action next Saturday against Amherst at Soldiers Field. Radcliffe Rolls The Radcliffe rugby team used an explosive attack to blow away Williams college, 22-10, Saturday at Soldiers Field. The Black and White made quick work of Williams, scoring all 22 of its points in the first half. "We concentrated on tightening up our play," Co-Captain Gillian Caldwell said, "instead of trying to score." Three year letterwinner Elise Balboni led Radcliffe by running for two 50 yard trys. Also chipping in were forward Becky Gradolph with two trys, Caldwell with one try and Club President Heather Flewelling with a conversion kick.
In addition to the A-side's triumph, the B-side won its game, 12-0, with Caldwell, Jenny Child, and Hugh Virgo scoring a try each.
