Ivy Rugby: 2016 Spring Preview

Despite appearances, the Dartmouth RFC has no plans to take this year's rugby challenge lying down.

Spring 2016 schedules are taking shape across the Ivies as teams hit the gym and get ready for competition. Here are a few highlights.

Frostbite 7s

The Harvard women hope to turn up the heat with an early season tournament at home on March 5. Harvard hosts a second tournament at the end of March, the Crimson 7s.

Ariel Re Bermuda 7s

The Columbia, Dartmouth and Yale men all travel to Bermuda March 18-19 for the Ariel Re Bermuda 7s at the Bermuda National Sports Center in Hamilton. Yale and Dartmouth then stick around to play the Bermuda National Team; the Bulldogs on Sunday, March 20, and Big Green on Tuesday, March 22.

Yale 7s

The Yale Women's Rugby Football Club is hosting the Yale 7s on April 9th. Interested teams can contact Head Coach Craig Wilson, craig [dot] r [dot] wilsonatyale [dot] edu

Ivy Men's 15 Championship

With fall 2015 champs Dartmouth playing for the Varsity Cup again this year, top four remaining seeds #1 Harvard, #2 Cornell, #3 Brown and #4 Yale (Columbia opted to play only sevens in the spring) will meet to play for the conference 15s championship on April 9-10.

The tournament will be held at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton, Mass. The winner is awarded the official Ivy Rugby seed and advances into the USA Rugby D1AA Round of 16 playoffs. Read more about the USA Rugby seed match »

Ivy 7s Championships

The Ivy women play a 7s championship at Princeton on April 24. The Ivy Men's 7s Championship tournament will take place April 30 at Dartmouth's Brophy Field.

Varsity 7s

The Varsity 7s tournament, April 30 at West Point, will include the women's varsity rugby programs of Brown, Dartmouth and Harvard.
