Columbia Women's Rugby * Columbia University Men's Rugby

Founded in the fall of 1960 - Columbia
Rugby has a fine record in the annals of collegiate
rugby in the USA. The 'Columbia Rugby three year
plan', initiated in 1998, commits us to excellence
and building the best Rugby program in the region
and the Ivy League. A challenging goal that "we
will try" to achieve. We welcome you to the
fun, the sport, the camaraderie, the international
world of Columbia Rugby - "Being the Best".
Columbia Rugby has recently been enjoying the
heightened competition in Division 1 of the Met
NY Rugby Union. In the spring of 2004, Columbia
went on tour to England, and played a number of
games and practice scenarios against British college
teams, most notably Birmingham, where we made
many great friends and contacts. That spring,
we also graduated a very large and talented senior
class, and used the fall semester to recruit a
large class of talented, athletic first years.
Our team is particularly young, comprised mostly
of first years and sophmores, and has been using
this year as a learning experience for these new
players to step up to the level of competition
that they are capable of, with lots of help and
direction from our very capable coaching trio
of Marc Porter, Bill Vilkelis, and Keith Reckling.
We look forward to seeing what these new athletes
will bring to Columbia Rugby in the near future
as we look to redefine the squad.
