Harvard Women Shock Brown, 57-7

Saturday, October 5, 2013

After their 10-5 loss to Dartmouth the week before, everyone was interested to see how Harvard's Women's Rugby Club would perform during their match against a powerful Brown squad. After the clock ended with Harvard up 57-7, everyone got their answer: Harvard should not be taken lightly. The Crimson came out firing on all cylinders Saturday, putting 26 points on the board before half while only allowing one try to the Big Green.

Even more impressively, Harvard seemed to improve after the half - the Crimson scored 31 unanswered points in the second to win by a 50-point margin. Harvard's victory can't be discussed without a mention of their captain, Xanni Brown. Brown, who also plays for the U.S. National Team, was responsible for 30 of Harvard's 57 points of the day.

Harvard's win moves them to second place in their division, just 2 points out from first place Dartmouth. As for Brown, they drop to 1-1 but only trail Harvard in the standings by 1 point.
