Princeton Shuts Out Cornell in Womens Ivy Challenge Match

Saturday, October 26, 2013

Following a disappointing regular season, Princeton found themselves in the position of having to fight off a challenge from #5 seed Cornell in order to maintain the #4 spot in the Ivy playoffs at Dartmouth next weekend.

This weekend's game was played on a chilly and windy yet sunny day; beautiful late October weather.

The Princeton women played well enough to put themselves back into the Ivy Rugby picture with a win over Cornell at Princeton this weekend.  Despite struggling a bit at the scrums, Princeton managed to win enough ball to win the match.

Princeton's six tries were scattered throughout the match. Dot Mittow led the scoring with two tries, both following multi-phase rugby. Other scores were by scrumhalf Steph Kim, flanker Kristy Giandomenico, rookie wing Emmily Kent and fullback Morgan Arthur.

The Princeton women made it two great wins at the University's rugby fields, as they followed a great come-from-behind victory by the Princeton men over Columbia.
