Remembering Kathy Flores

With great sadness, we announce the death of rugby legend Kathy Flores.

Kathleen "Kathy" Theresa Flores (1955-2021) was a rugby player and coach, winning multiple national championships over her 45-year career. She was a strong champion of the women's rugby community and her contributions to the sport of rugby were extensive. Over her career, she won multiple national college and club championships, numerous awards, and is considered a pioneer and ground breaker in women's rugby.

1959: Dartmouth Indians Tops Harvard Rugby, 9-3

The Dartmouth rugby squad handed the Crimson its second consecutive loss, 9 to 3, Saturday at Hanover, and virtually eliminated it from contention for the Eastern Rugby Union title. The Indians, undefeated this year, will probably make the trip to California in June to play the Western champions, while the Crimson will be lucky to finish second.

1949: Harvard Ruggers Claw Tigers Today; JV's Play Too

The Rugby Club plays the first round of the 1949 Big Three Championship today and it promises to be a good one. Harvard and Princeton have already played to a 0-0 tie down in Bermuda. Kickoff time in the feature attraction is 3 p.m. and the locale is Soldiers Field.

1949: Harvard Ruggers Return From Bermuda With 1-3-1 Record

The team opened rugby week in Hamilton against the British Army's "Barbarians," whom they shellacked, 16 to 3. Tuesday the team tied the Bermuda Athletic Association, 3 to 3, and Thursday they tied Yale by the same score.

Joyous Day for the Brown University 7s Squad

Brown Wins William Paterson 7s

Brown’s 1st side headed down Saturday to William Paterson University for their March 7s tournament. Thirteen men’s sides, and ten woman’s sides competed on two fields.

NEC 7's Round One at Brown

Brown hosted round one of the NEC 7’s with eight teams traveling to Providence to compete for the top position. The NEC 7’s is a multi-week event in which teams can participate in as many events as they choose. After each event, points are assigned to the teams in the order of how they finished. Brown participated in this tournament last spring going 20-0 in games. To develop players, Brown is using the NEC 7’s as a developmental opportunity for some of the players.

Brown at Harvard 7s Warm-Up

Brown traveled up to Harvard Stadium this weekend to test the waters with their spring 7’s squad. Invited on the day were Northeastern, Boston College, Brown and host Harvard. The round-robin event was held inside the football stadium under their winter bubble.

All sides were encouraged to bring extended squads over the twelve that normally participate in 7’s events. Fifteen players were selected however Brown held out both(Alex Ogilvy ’20 and Austen Royer ’21 because of minor injuries.
