Five Ivy Girls Selected for the NRU U19 All-stars

Five U19 All-star players representing three Ivy League schools including Harvard, Cornell and Brown have been selected to represent the Northeast Rugby Union Under-19 (NRU U19) squad. This year represents the last year that the Ivy schools will be competing in the Northeast. In 2012, the Ivy Rugby Conference anticipates that all 8 women's Ivy League School rugby teams will compete in conference play.

The NRU U19 team is eager to compete at the upcoming National U19 All-Star Tournament November 18th-20th to be held in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  The tournament venue will feature 6 All-Star rugby teams from around the US and serves as an opportunity for players to compete at a high level, improve their rugby game, and be viewed by the National coaching staff.

NRU U19 players were selected after a series of camps and scrimmages held around the Northeast to attract the most skilled and dedicated collegiate and high school players.  Twelve Northeast colleges and high schools have players representing the NRU.  Coaches Tree Bertram, Tiffany Renaud and Laurie Bourdon are confident that the selected team brings a mix of rugby experience and knowledge, strength and speed, and mental preparedness and tenacity, all essential components to compete in the All-Star Tournament.
