Penn Season Highlights

Penn Women spring 2013

Penn women started their spring season in early Feburary. Always eager to get more time and experience on the field, the ladies did not let a few snow storms stop their practices and their hard work and dedication paid off this season.

Their first game was against cross-town rivals, St. Joseph University. For the first time in at least four years of playing against the Magis, Penn walked off the pitch with a win. While this game served as a confidence-builder, they were still not satisfied with their playing, knowing that they could have done even better. Senior and co-captain, Kallie Hamilton, continued to push her teammates to do more and made defense a priority.

Penn spent most of the season focusing on the details of the game and it continued to show as they ended their season over .500. Emma Edoga led a great rookie class in tries, and the veteran players made sure the rookies felt at home on the team from their very first day. Co-captain Marrissa Decesaris led the backs in attack, and Tvisi Ravi showed she was a force with which to to be reckoned on defense.

Penn ended their season with a tough loss against Princeton, leaving them eager and excited for the fall. They are only loosing one player to graduation, Kallie Hamilton, who is leaving the team in a better place then she found it. With a few other players studying abroad next semester, the women know they must recruit a rookie class as good as the players who joined this past spring.  Penn is eager to keep working hard this summer and they are approaching the fall season with anticipation and excitement.
