Women’s Rugby is Brown’s 38th Varsity Sport

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Brown University will elevate its women’s rugby team from club level to full varsity status for the 2014-15 academic year. Women’s rugby will be the University’s 21st women’s varsity team, making Brown a leader in varsity options for female athletes of all NCAA institutions.

Princeton Takes 2014 Rob Koranda Cup

It played more like what we know as football in 1896, but when Princeton and Yale met for the first time in 1873 it was rugby football that they played. Last week Yale traveled to Princeton to compete for the Koranda Cup established in 2003 in memory of Princeton rugby great Rob Koranda.

In a great day of rugby. Princeton held onto the cup for the third year in a row, winning 32-22.

2014 Wildcard Final Brown defeats Princeton 27-14

Brown University won the Ivy Rugby Wildcard D1AA final today beating Princeton 27-14 in the championship.  All 8 Ivy teams participated this weekend. "A big congratulations to Brown for being the Ivy D1AA champions and we all wish them the very best of luck moving forward in the Round of 16," stated Richard Lopacki, Princeton University Director of Rugby.

CURFC vs Marist

CURFC took on Marist this weekend at Randall's Island in their final match before the Ivy XV Championships. Marist scored first following a number of Columbia penalties, but after that, it was all Columbia. Three tries from Ben Keitt, two from Zak Kirstein, tries from Peter Calello, Max Martin, and Danny Martinez, plus five conversions from Calello gave CURFC the dominant 50-17 victory.

Dartmouth Wins Ivy 15s Title

Hanover, NH – Saturday evening, the men in green again took to the turf at Scully-Fahey Field.  This time, an Ivy League title was on the line.  Dartmouth and Harvard met in the championship game after both teams won their semifinal matches the week before, over Penn and Cornell respectively.

Dartmouth Takes Shield Bracket at Armory Collegiate 7s

While the Dartmouth men’s first XV was taking care of business in Hanover, NH, defeating Penn 38-0 at the Ivy XVs semi-finals, The Big Green also sent a sevens team to Springfield, Massachusetts to compete along with fifteen other schools in the 2014 Armory Collegiate 7s Tournament. Dartmouth Women Open 7s Season With Strong Performance

In a promising start to its inaugural Spring 7s season, Dartmouth beat Navy, Army’s second side, and Boston University, tied Army’s first side, and had its only loss against current National Champions Norwich University when they traveled to West Point this past weekend. The DWRC, along with many teams from the Northeast, the Midwest, and the Rocky Mountain region, has joined the American College Rugby Association (ACRA) with National Championships for 15s in the fall and 7s in the spring rather than split seasons of both 15s and 7s.

Ivy Men 15s Championship Final

Dartmouth defeated Harvard 52-3 in the Ivy Rugby 15s championship game on Saturday. Both Harvard and Dartmouth shut out their opponents March 29 to earn a spot in the 15s final, which took place April 5. Dartmouth, the higher seed, hosted the contest in Hanover NH.
