Princeton Takes Out the Red Storm

Sunday, April 14, 2013

Princeton Tigers kicked off in the first half against the Indiana Redstorm hoping for a win after their Final 4 hopes were crushed on Saturday with a loss to Army. Princeton's Lauren Rhode scored two tries in the match which ended with a Princeton shutout 17 - 0. A solid end to the competitive season for the Tigers!

Princeton's #2 Kelsey Henderson ‘15 scored first from a displaced lineout drive.  A couple minutes later, it appeared Indiana had tied the game when the touch judge’s flag went up. Instead the side judge signaled dangerous play by Indiana’s #8. The referee took away the try and issued a yellow card for the infraction.

In the second half Princeton got yet another score from a displaced Lineout drive and Lauren Rhode closed out her game (Cat Lambert came in to take her place) with a try and conversion. Rhode's try was from a kick fielded by Devan Kreisberg ’13 then passed to Princeton's talented flyhalf.

Defensively, Princeton's front-up tackling gave Indiana some early space, but their exceptional cover tackling came through and kept Indiana out of the try zone all day.

A welcome back was given to Princeton's Juju Obioha ’14 after a long absence from injury. Juju looks forward to a productive fall season.
