USA Rugby 7s National Championship

The Dartmouth Men and the Princeton Women were the top finishers in the Ivy Championships held in Princeton NJ on November 10th and they will represent the Ivy Rugby Conference in the USA Rugby Collegiate 7s National Championship.

Dartmouth Men's Rugby Club, undefeated for the Fall 2012 season and the Princeton Women, runner-up in the Ivy Green Division are traveling to College Station, Texas and the campus of Texas A&M University for the event to be held on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1, 2012. The Harvard Women are also attending as an at-large participant. Twenty-four men's teams and sixteen women's teams will compete for the shot at the Collegiate National Championship.

“We’re thrilled to take this event back to College Station,” said USA Rugby CEO and President of Rugby Operations Nigel Melville, “having a motivated host who is eager to help us create a top quality event is a huge benefit.”

In addition to crowning champions, the tournament will be a major contributor to the selection process for USA Rugby Olympic athletes.

“Being able to see the top athletes from the nation's best collegiate rugby 7s teams in one location will be important for our coaches and selectors - both for the Collegiate All American 7s team as well as for the Olympic 7s program,” stated Melville.

Texas A&M University was the location for last year's 7s championship where Life University and Norwich University were named champions.
