Dartmouth Men’s Rugby Confirmed for CRC 7s on NBC
The Men’s Rugby team will have a unique opportunity to showcase their skills on NBC in a National Championship event in early June in the Philadelphia area. Dartmouth finished in the top 8 in the inaugural competition of this event last June in Columbus, Ohio. The event is a 2 day event, with a $38 ticket which covers both days.
If you are not familiar with Rugby 7s, you may want to know that it was recently chosen as one of the new sports for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. It is very likely that a number of players competing in this event will contend for the USA team then, hopefully including 1 or 2 Big Greeners.

PHILADELPHIA – March 29, 2011 – USA Sevens recently announced Dartmouth Men’s Rugby’s inclusion in the Collegiate Rugby Championships on NBC. Ivy League Champions Dartmouth will be pitted against 15 of the top-‐tier athletic programs in the country, including Collegiate Premier Division ‘Rugby East’ rivals, Army, Navy, Penn State, and Ohio State.
“USA Sevens is delighted to finalize the field with these elite programs,” said Dan Lyle, Collegiate Rugby Championship tournament director. Dartmouth’s “dynamic squad will add competitive and national weight to the existing teams in the field.” The CRC 7s, which will be broadcast live nationally on NBC, will be played Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, at PPL Park in Chester, PA. Seating is limited to 18,000 tickets, with Dartmouth allotted 300 seats to sell.
These two-‐day, General Admission tickets are now on sale to the Dartmouth community. At $38 for the weekend, tickets to the Championship represent a fantastic opportunity for Dartmouth fans to see one of the College’s top teams compete on the national stage in the country’s fastest growing sport – Rugby 7s. The electric sport of 7s is fast-‐paced, entertaining, and is likely to prove one of the most popular at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
