Syracuse Cuts Promising Dartmouth Season Short In Rain

The Dartmouth Rugby team had its 2009‐2010 season ended Saturday at the hands of the Syracuse University Hammerheads in the Northeast semi‐finals. The 5‐6 loss in the rain at West Point, NY, the first of the year for the Dartmouth side, cost the Big Green a spot in the national round of sixteen next spring.

Big Green beat BC in final home game, stay undefeated

Saturday’s 50‐8 win over Boston College was a bittersweet one for the Dartmouth seniors. Consisting of only four active players and prop Matt Dricoll ’10, who is out for the fall season with a knee injury, what the group has lacked in quantity they have made up for in quality of play and leadership to guide a young Dartmouth side.

Harvard University 19 @ Syracuse University 36

Harvard, after finishing second to Dartmouth in the Ivies, travels to Syracuse NY for the first round of the NRU D1 Collegiate playoffs. The Ivy II seed was given a tough task going on the road in round one of the NRUs.

A last second try versus Brown gave Harvard the second seed with a 25-24 victory in the first-ever playoff to determine the top four seeds in the Ivies. Now Harvard heads upstate to play the Upstate NY champion the Syracuse Hammerheads.

 

 

Dartmouth advances to the Northeast Semi‐Finals

Dartmouth and Harvard represented the Ivies today in the quarterfinals of the NRU D1 championships. Dartmouth defeated Boston College 50-8 while Harvard fell to Syracuse 19-36. Dartmouth advances to the semis.

The Northeast Rugby Union College Playoffs began today November 7th with quarterfinal matches in Men's D1 competition. Quarterfinal winners advance to the Championship Round of 4 the weekend of November 14-15.

Brown Women advance to the NRU Semis

Four of six Ivy League women's teams qualified for the Northeast playoffs. Penn and Princeton women play in the Mid-Atlantic region. It was a great Ivy showing, Brown advances in D1 with a 34-11 win over UConn and Radcliffe moves on with a 46-5 beating of SUNY Geneseo.

Dartmouth and Harvard advance to the first round of the Northeast playoffs. Second seed Harvard heads upstate to Syracuse, while Dartmouth hosts Boston College at Brophy Field.

Northeast College D1 Playoffs are set

Ivy II representative Dartmouth and Ivy II second place finisher Harvard move on to the NRU round of eight teams playoffs this weekend.

After much discussion, the inclusion of the newly formed Ivy League Rugby Conference has changed the playoff structure in 2009. The top seeds go to the first place finisher in each of the four conferences. Dartmouth College will play host to the New England runner-up Boston College, while Harvard University will travel to Syracuse to play the Hammerheads.

Dartmouth Wins the Ivy League with a 53-6 Victory over Yale

Dartmouth College closed the regular season with a 7‐0 Ivy League record. Yale, who lost to Harvard last Saturday 26-7, finished as the the fourth seed in the Ivies.

Brown Playoff Bid Spoiled by Crimson 24-25

After a lopsided 69-10 loss to Harvard in Round 3 of the Ivy League Championship Series, Brown showed tremendous improvement taking Harvard to the final whistle before losing a heart breaker. Harvard's last second try gives Harvard a 25-24 victory over Brown.
