The DWRC defeated Columbia 53-7 Saturday afternoon in cold and wet conditions. Dartmouth, in their second week of Ivy League play, played a tight match, adapting to the conditions. Ashley Afranie-Sakyi '13 spearheaded the attack in the back line, coming up with four tries and several long breaks.

Brown Women 41, Dartmouth 12

The Brown women opened Ivy Rugby Conference play with a decisive win over Dartmouth. Led by co-captains Chelsea Garber '12 and Blair Station '12 Brown worked hard to secure ball, disorganize and get behind the Dartmouth defense.

Although Brown's Chelsea Garber and her veteran-speckled backline had a tough time containing or breaking through Dartmouth's powerful centers (Ashley Afranie-Sakyi '13 and Sabrina Amaro '13) they took full advantage of Garber's powerful boot as they kicked their way into scoring position and finished with speedy wings.

Harvard Women @ Columbia Women

The Columbia Women's team hosted Harvard on the football field in the their first inaugural Ivy Women's Rugby League season. With many new players against a Crimson side that was bolstered by players from their US 7s championship team, the CU women had possession on their own ball not a half dozen times all game and then only momentarily. They easily played defense for not less than 85% of the match, yet competed, tackled and chased constantly in the most courageous defensive effort ever witnessed.

Dartmouth Tames Tigers 53-21

After a sluggish performance against Brown last week, Dartmouth Rugby suddenly had a lot of question marks heading into today’s matchup against Princeton, who like The Big Green were still undefeated in Ivy Rugby Conference play.
