Weekend Wrap-Up: 10/28/13

Princeton kicks ahead vs Columbia

Even though there was limited Ivy Rugby action on Saturday, the games that were played were as exciting as ever. Here are the major storylines from this week's Ivy Rugby action.

Cornell Men 31, Penn Men 24
Cornell held off a charging Penn team on the road to win their match, 31-24. Solid play by the Big Red as well as Benno Sorenson's clutch conversions allowed Cornell to stay on top despite an excellent effort from a dangerous Penn squad. Cornell finishes their season undefeated and on top of the Ivy South's standings.

Princeton Women 38, Cornell Women 0
Following a disappointing regular season, Princeton found themselves in the position of having to fight off a challenge from #5 seed Cornell in order to maintain the #4 spot in the Ivy playoffs at Dartmouth next weekend.

Princeton Men 24, Columbia Men 20
In thrilling come-from-behind fashion, the Princeton Men won on their home turf over Columbia. Columbia was able to jump out to an impressive early lead, seemingly dominating possession with scrappy offensive play and timely penalty kicks. Princeton wasn't disheartened, though, despite at one point being ahead in tries but behind on the scoreboard. Their persistence eventually paid off and they edged Columbia out by a mere 4 points, 24-20.
