Dartmouth tops 100 in front of the home crowd

Dartmouth hosted Brown during the 60th Anniversary weekend of rugby. DRFC was able to win by a large margin 107-5 with Brown scoring in the waning minutes of the contest to avoid the shutout.

Hanover, NH - In a match that required a calculator to keep score, undefeated defending Ivy League Champion Dartmouth posted its fourth straight win of the 2010 season, annihilating an out-manned Brown side 107-5.

Harvard scores two first half tries to defeat Yale 12-3

In a hard fought battle, Harvard scored twice in the first half, then held on to defeat Yale in this classic rivalry 12-3. Harvard and Yale will meet again this fall before the football matchup.

Cambridge Mass.  - In a low scoring affair, Harvard led Yale 12-0 at halftime on tries by de La Cal and Cummins, and a de La Cal conversion.

Yale’s only points came on a second half penalty goal by Vandersloot.

Ivy Rugby Conference Results Round One

Dartmouth, Yale, Columbia and Brown were all Day 1 winners in the first weekend of Ivy League Rugby competition. It was Yale with the most stunning victory, though, as the Bulldogs rebounded from a 17-nil halftime deficit versus the Big Red of Cornell.

Columbia defeats Penn 41-10 at Franklin Field in Philadelphia

Penn started strong, despite an early sin bin, scoring a short-handed try by Nabil Darwich. Penn lost the lead then quickly got it back on a Darwich interception taking a 10-7 lead. The rest of the scoring belonged to Columbia who took a 15-10 lead into halftime before winning going away 41-10. 2009 All-Ivy Conor Russomano scored the last 2 trys of the match for the Lions.

Dartmouth travels to Yale to play three! Should be a great weekend for rugby.

Defending Ivy League Champion Dartmouth improved its record to 3-0 with win over Yale

It was a beautiful day for rugby as the Ivy League’s only undefeated (2-0) teams faced off in New Haven Connecticut. Led by the three first half tries of Paul Jarvis, defending Ivy League Champion Dartmouth improved its record to 3-0 with its 36-15 win over Yale this past Saturday.

New Haven, Conn. - Yale was geared-up for a battle, but things started poorly for the Bulldogs.

Just five minutes in, Dartmouth won a lineout and put together a driving maul that led to Paul Jarvis’s first try, that Fish converted, 7-0.

2nd XV Princeton Men at Cornell Men

Princeton travels to Ithaca next Saturday for a match against the Big Red. Kickoff at 11:00am for the 1st XV with the seconds to follow.

2nd XV Harvard Men at Brown Men

Behind the excellent work of freshman #9 Matt Leonard, the Brown seconds beat Harvard 17-5.

Harvard scored first at 19 minutes but two minutes later, Leonard took a quick tap and passed to Daniel Tondreys’14 for a try. Fly half Blair Cameron’13 made the conversion and the half ended with Brown up 7-5.

In the second half Leonard took another quick tap and fed David Dean’11 for a try. The score remained 12-5, until Leonard made a break with 4 minutes on the clock. He chipped over the top into the try zone and scored for the final score of the match.

Hanrahan, Cummins and De la Cal lead Harvard 21 past Brown 13

Both Harvard and Brown were looking to put a win on the board and turn a 1-1 first weekend into a positive result. Each team scored twice during the contest. In the end it was Harvard's de la Cal kicking that provided the margin.  de la Cal booted 3 penalties and a conversion. Hanrahan and Cummins scored for Harvard, while Karwaski and McGinn dotted down for Brown. Jethani chipped in one penalty.
