The Brown University Women’s Rugby team didn’t always enjoy the view from above. It took them 30 years to win the DI Northeast Championship, achieved in 2007 after an undefeated fall regular season.
A total of eleven Ivy League players were selected to the ARN Down Under Rugby All-American Squad. The 11 Ivy players represent three of the eight Ivy League institutions, Dartmouth (7), Harvard (3) and Yale (1). Congratulations to our Ivy All-Americans.
If you are anywhere near Stanford University today, stop by and cheer on the Women's National Final Four contender Brown University lead by head coach Kerri Heffernan as they look to take down last year's national champion Penn State University. Brown looked strong as they shut out all takers at the Ivies scoring 143 unanswered points.
Brown won two of three, beating Yale in round one, losing to Harvard in round two and coming back on Sunday to beat Penn ( who had beaten Princeton) for third place. What was characteristic for Brown was its commitment to the team pattern, solid defense and the inability of any of Brown’s opponents to outplay our forwards.
