Dartmouth Men Win National Championship in Las Vegas

This past weekend the Big Green headed out West to Las Vegas to try their luck in the Las Vegas Invitational. Two squads were brought out, the A side competed in the collegiate tournament and the B side which was in the men’s open tournament.

1897 Penn Men's Rugby Team

The 1897 Penn Men's rugby team finished with a 15–0 record and was retroactively named as the national champion by the Billingsley Report, Helms Athletic Foundation, Houlgate System, and National Championship Foundation, and as a co-national champion by Parke H. Davis. They outscored their opponents 463 to 20.

If you were wondering who is the best women's team in the Ivies, wonder no more. Brown annihilated all in their path Saturday outscoring their opponents 145-0. They only played three matches!

The Cornell Women, expected to be tough for Brown, were the only team to make a game of it. But the lady bears from Cornell were unable to put points on the board, as the Brown shut them down and out, 15-nil.

It has been one year since I have assumed the position of president of CURFC and what a year it has been. Last year’s team, a team full of potential, size, athletic ability, and desire, accomplished many things (including the first Met NY win in over 2 years, a winning regular season record, and two Ivy wins over Cornell) but in the end, failed to reach all of the goals that we had set out for ourselves.
