The 1897 Penn Men's rugby team finished with a 15–0 record and was retroactively named as the national champion by the Billingsley Report, Helms Athletic Foundation, Houlgate System, and National Championship Foundation, and as a co-national champion by Parke H. Davis. They outscored their opponents 463 to 20.
Greg Johnson, Managing Editor of Penn Today wrote an awesome article about the history of Penn Law alumnus, John Heisman. Heisman was a former player and coach on the University of Pennsylvania football team. From 1920-22, Heisman coached the Quakers. Penn had a 16-10-2 record during his tenure.
The Dartmouth RFC gave a strong showing at the CRC this weekend, taking two and drawing one of their three matches in pool play on Saturday to advance to the elimination rounds on Sunday.
Forty-Four teams will compete at the 2018 USA Rugby College 7s National Championships in Glendale, Colorado, May 18-20. Harvard and Dartmouth women are set to play in the D1 division, while Princeton women will be in the women's Open division.
The Dartmouth came just short of the D1AA national championship, falling 38 - 30 to Mary Washington in an exciting D1AA final Saturday, May 5 at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Stadium.
